Blast Bay Studios is proud to announce the new release of Q9. This is an action game where you have to guide Q9, your little alien, through various levels and worlds. There is a free demo and the full game lincense is availble for purchase.
This game is created by Philip Benfall, the same guy who originally made Dark Destroyer, and Tarzan Junior. For these games please use the contact link on the main page and he can tell who is hosting the downloads for these now.

Thanks, I'll check it out...Soon as I can. :)

i have played the demo of it and so far it looks awesome! I love the sound quality and it is a very fun game.

Post 8 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 22-Nov-2009 15:59:26

I'll be buying it next Tuesday when I get paid. I'm already working on my own guide for it.

Post 9 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Sunday, 22-Nov-2009 21:58:38

Cool, I've been wondering when he planned on releasing a new game. I'll definitely be checking this out.

Post 10 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Monday, 23-Nov-2009 2:21:34

I think the game is fun. :) I like all kinds of games.

Post 11 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 23-Nov-2009 2:55:56

I've played this game, and it's great. For those of you who like the music to it, it was all done by our own community leader Q. I was pretty sure the music was his work when I heard it, but saw his name on the credits.

Post 12 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 23-Nov-2009 17:39:01

Now that's cool. Guess that means I better get really good on the theremin so that I can stand a chance of possibly contributing some music if ThomasWard of USA Games ever decides to design a Castlevania style game.

Post 13 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 29-Nov-2009 8:50:36

I absolutely love this game. :) It's very fun and addictive. lol

Post 14 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 30-Nov-2009 17:48:03

Well I'll be purchasing my copy tomorrow just as son as my SSI comes in. All I have to say about that is woo-hoo!

Post 15 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 30-Nov-2009 18:22:27

Agreed, Brian. I'm purchasing my copy on Wednesday.

Post 16 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 01-Dec-2009 19:43:56

I purchased mine last week and love the game. I don't think I'll ever get through the death world though. Even with lots of shields and stuff left over, it's still hard. The only way I can see doing this is if you have enough shields to run and shoot through the entire 3 levels.

Post 17 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 02-Dec-2009 14:58:56

The thing that sucks about using the shields is that the sound is so loud that you can't tell where the pits are to jump, so I end up falling in. And is it just me, or as soon as you activate a shield, about 10 different things come up and surround you and start hitting the shield, making it even harder to hear? If anybody has some tips for that, please share.

Post 18 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 02-Dec-2009 17:11:39

Hmmm, I've not noticed that using the shield increases the enemies around you. They seem to be about the same number. Maybe it just sounds like there are more because when they do hit you, it makes a metallic sound, rather than the noises of Q9 getting hurt. Also, because you're not fighting them as hard while under the shield's protection, maybe it seems like there are more, because you're not killing them as quickly.

I too, have not found a way to get past the death world. I can get to it, but thus far have not gotten past the first level. Has anyone here beaten the game? If so, any tips on that?

Post 19 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Wednesday, 02-Dec-2009 19:00:20

Yes i finished the game several times.
My tip is to walk as slowly as possible in the death world. Wait untill all the enemies come to you and when you don't hear any more make a few steps to get more. If you run you get more enemies all at once which makes things difficult. And for the boss level my advice is to save as many rocks as possible and fire them toward the boss. This is the way to kill him.

Post 20 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 02-Dec-2009 20:05:39

Hmmm, maybe it just sounds that way because they sometimes run back and forth. Either way, it confuses me. It could also have something to do with the fact that I activate a shield and stand still sometimes just so I won't fall off the edge due to not hearing it, and maybe if you do that enemies surround you. I try not to use the shields because if I do, I'm bound to run off the cliffs.

Post 21 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 0:43:33

I've thus far managed to make it to the Death World on every playthrough. I've actually reached the third level once but I'm currently hung up on level 2. At one point I managed to acumulate over 300 rocks, which for the most part I managed to hold onto until Death World, but so far I haven't cleared the second stage yet. And given...well the little twist once you reach level three there's no last chance to rack up extra supplies.

Post 22 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 4:44:17

Nikos, your tip makes sense. I had to walk extremely slowly through the cave and mountain worlds the first few times I went through them. It took me forever, and it was painstaking, but I figured out how to make it work. Now I can move through them a lot faster, but stil be accurate about it. Maybe that's what I need to do in the death worlds, rather than run like hell to get through them as quickly as possible. LOL. . That, and be smarter about conserving my weapons like rocks and shields early on, so I have more for the death and boss worlds.

Post 23 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 8:57:49

Sounds good. I'll look at the link and try out the demo later.

Post 24 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 11:29:52

Well as of a few minutes ago I finally beat Q9. Nicos' tip definitely does help since you have fewer enemies after you at once. Even so I made it to the final portal with only 60-odd rocks, no Deus Shields and only 10 strength. Luckily I had plenty of lives to spare, and the boss is easy compared to the world leading up to him.

Post 25 by cattleya (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 12:36:07

LOL, now you guys got me thinking about xmas coming up. :) To bad most of the people I know don't buy accessible games...Anyways, I'll get it eventually...

Post 26 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 13:53:11

It's definitely well worth it. But if you wait too long you won't be able to get the discount. The game normally costs thirty bucks and until January 1 you can get it for twenty-five. I bought my copy on Tuesday morning.

Post 27 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 14:32:05

It's a cool game. I just can't seem to be able to jump over the well or whatever that is near the start of the game.

Post 28 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 17:39:23

They're pits, and they pop up through out the game, so get used to them. Lol. All you have to do is listen for the change in the grou d you're walking on, and take 2 steps onto that, then jump by holding down your up arrow and tapping the right arros fast until you clear it.

Post 29 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 03-Dec-2009 21:17:02

Yes, the pits do take getting used to. When I first started playing the game, I fell into those damn things constantly. Now I find them relatively easy. When you're right on the edge, you hear the sound of your steps change from whatever they are on that level to a sound like you're stepping in mud. What I wish would happen is that if you kill an enemy when you're right by a pit, you could hear the enemy fall into it. That'd be amusing.

Post 30 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Friday, 04-Dec-2009 23:31:15

That would be pretty awesome. I like how you can chase animals into those force fields or whatever they're called, and they sometimes die. My boyfriend was doing that the other day to a bunch of the bats and it was quite amusing.

Post 31 by rail racer (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 05-Dec-2009 1:51:14

This game is grate. And I have beaten it a few times. O and the six deth annimations are funny.

Post 32 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 06-Dec-2009 10:58:48

I've only seen three, two in the Cave World and one in Death World. Ah ow! I don't like flying creatures...Ow!

Post 33 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2009 17:19:55

Can I actually jump over the pits in the demo? I keep getting to them, trying to fight off enemies and dying. Haha.

Post 34 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Monday, 07-Dec-2009 19:32:48

Yeah, you can jump over pits in the demo. Just kill the enemies first before you jump. In the cave you should jump up and kill the bats first. I actually didn't know you could kill the bats the first time I played.

Post 35 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2009 20:45:04

I didn't know, either. I kept dying in the cave level till I learned that. Now I kill bats, and all other surrounding enemies before I jump over pits.

Post 36 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Monday, 07-Dec-2009 20:53:16

I guess my question is this game came out what? a week? 2 weeks? ago? and their are already people done it? what are you going to do now?

Post 37 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Monday, 07-Dec-2009 20:54:50

That will be the case with any game. some beat it remarkably quickly. Maybe they just wait for the next new one to come out. That, and you also have to ask, what level did they beat it on? If someone beat it on the easy setting, then they'll probably step it up to a more difficult one for more of a challenge.

Post 38 by Alexander vongrippen (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 08-Dec-2009 1:56:15

Hi guys here are a few cheats for this game.
21 guns: get a good gun.
hitchin' a ride: don't need to jump of the pit.
hth

Post 39 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Tuesday, 08-Dec-2009 9:52:53

Cheats don't usually work though until the player has actually unlocked the cheats file. So posting them is pretty pointless unless you assume everyone's already unlocked them.

Post 40 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Tuesday, 08-Dec-2009 13:54:17

I think the cheets work because i heard people finishing the game with cheets and they didn't get the ending.
I finished the game on easy as i said and also in survival mode so now i am trying the medium difficulty. But i have to say it is very difficult so this should keep me busy for a few weeks i would say.

Post 41 by Alexander vongrippen (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 09-Dec-2009 2:59:09

H'm,well I haven't finished the game yet,and I can use the cheats.

Post 42 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 09-Dec-2009 14:36:33

Yeah, you can use the cheats before you finish, but then you don't get the ending. There are others too, but I personally don't like using the one for walking over pits. That makes the game pointless to me. The laser gun is nice, and I also like the fact that all the cheat codes are Green Day references.

Post 43 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 09-Dec-2009 16:32:45

Yes, I too have finished the game with cheat codes, but as others have said, you don't get the real ending if you do it that way. I had not even picked up on the fact that those were Green Day references. Hahahaha! and, I want to finish it without any cheat codes, both so I can hear the real ending, and because I want the challenge of it. The various cheats are cool, but I want to be able to beat the game with my own skills.

Post 44 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Saturday, 12-Dec-2009 19:06:24

And I won't use the cheats until I actually unlock them. I also didn't get the Green Day reference. Think Philip is a fan?

Post 45 by Alexander vongrippen (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 13-Dec-2009 1:09:50

k,I never said that you guys should use the cheats, but they were for those who want it.

Post 46 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 13-Dec-2009 23:00:48

How many are there just out of curiosity?

Cool.

Post 49 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Monday, 14-Dec-2009 5:13:12

Too bad he couldn't have used a few more. I'm fucking lazy could have played the end of the game. American Idiot could curse all Americans to hell. Know your enemies could kill all of the enemies as you walk through the game. Do you have the time to listen to me wine could deactivate your key. LOL

Post 50 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Monday, 14-Dec-2009 12:50:02

I really want to purchase this game, bu I don't have any money right now. lol

Post 51 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Monday, 14-Dec-2009 15:17:04

I begin to suspect that Philip is a fan, otherwise he wouldn't have used so many Green Day references. I've got a lot of their albums and just ordered the new one on Saturday. My introduction to that album was the one good thing to come out of my latest attempt at a romantic relationship LOL.

Post 52 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 16-Dec-2009 22:53:55

Scott, maybe you should send him your ideas for those extra cheats? lol

My husband and I had a "date night" playing this. First we tried the Demo, and before my husband got past the second level, he said "I'm buying this. It's ourChristmas present." Sohe did and I can't leave it alone. The kids are asleep and I'm having a blast!

:) glad you're enjoying it.

Post 55 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 20-Dec-2009 13:14:21

Just don't go nuts with the slingshot. You're going to need it in the Death World. Even on easy it's no walk in the park.

Post 56 by philip_bennefall (Newborn Zoner) on Friday, 25-Dec-2009 14:10:59

Hello all,

I am glad to see so much discussion going on here about my games, it's very rewarding after working on it for so many months. Thanks to all of you who purchased it!

And did I mention that there is a different ending when you beat the game on medium, hard and insane than when you beat it on easy?

Merry Christmas to all, and don't forget to beat up some elves as well in Kringle Crash. Grins.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

Post 57 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 25-Dec-2009 14:24:10

I haven't even beaten it on easy yet, let alone the other levels. However, I did see Scot beat it on the easy level just yesterday. You get some of the satisfaction of the ending, but Philips sarcasm reigns supreme yet again. *Grin* Scot also reached the death world on the normal level, so he'll likely beat it on that setting before I do, too. *Pouts* Just kidding. Still an addicting game.

Post 58 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 25-Dec-2009 20:00:53

Philip, ify ou saw the post about putting in a cheat that will let q9 just run through each level and watch his enimies kill each other, I'd find that amusing. lol Okay, I've got a warped sense of humor sometimes, but hey ...

Post 59 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Sunday, 27-Dec-2009 10:08:36

I can generally make it to level 3 of the Death World on Medium but I need to either get better at dodging attacks , not get swarmed by enemies so many times or better yet work on conserving ammo until I get there.
